Nirodhaḥ Yoga Blog
What brought you to yoga? What lead me to yoga were a few things. As a former athlete I primarily used it as a way to prevent injuries, keep my muscles loose, and optimize performance. It then lead to more introspection and mentally clarity and awareness of the self. During some personal battles it helped (and still helps) me heal. As time went on, especially during quarantine, yoga along with deep meditation has served as my way to ground myself through any trying time. What is your approach to teaching? My approach to teaching I’d say, is primarily based in kundalini yoga, ashtanga and meditation. Kundalini emphasizes linking the breath with movement and the use of meditation for me is not to “quiet” but allowing the activity to come and go, detaching them from our conscious mind, as well as attaining inner peace by introspective thought thay leads to gratitude. However, I implement a vinyasa flow as well as yin yoga at times to achieve deep stretches. Why did you choose to teach at 5KY? I chose 5KY because of my initial meetings with Erin and Rita. Their values and morals aligned with mine, the vibe they work to maintain attracted me too. It is not this commercialized approach to yoga which is an aversion to me. They allow different styles of teachers in, to create a unique environment and offer members who come in options that are tailored to their needs. They truly let their teachers have autonomy which makes for an authentic and personalized experience. What makes your soul sing? What makes my soul sing is very simple, extending my energy to others that need it. Nothing makes me feel better than my energy, my presence and guidance being used to heal and support others, offering strength and a sliver of inner peace to someone’s day means a lot to me. I know how tough life can be, but I also know how resilient and beautiful the human spirit can be. All I want to do is share the light I’ve found with others, in hopes that they are able to realize the light within themselves. You can find Immanuel at 5KY on Mondays at 7:30 PM.

I've ... probably been to 25 different yoga studios. This is one of the most welcoming, calming spaces with very talented instructors. |
