Nirodhaḥ Yoga Blog
What brought you to yoga? I was fortunate to be introduced to yoga when I was in middle school. My first instructor was an Iyengar teacher, who offered a weekly class in a rural North Carolina community center. He was silly and approachable, and made me feel challenged and strong. What is your approach to teaching? I value ritual and inner listening. My classes are set up with space for students to check in with their body, minds, and breath to practice inner listening. I like to provide some challenges and grounding exercises in all my classes so our bodies can practice responding to and releasing stress. Beginners are always welcome in my classes! Why do you choose to teach at 5KY? Our director, Erin's calm energy is inspiring to me, and drew me to her studio. I can feel that energy in the space, and keep coming back for that grounding experience. What makes your soul sing? Connection with others makes my soul sing! Deep conversations with people I love. Vulnerable moments when I'm trying something new with a friend by my side. Chances to get to know someone new and find our common threads. You can find Lily at 5KY at her Beginner Yoga Class on Wednesdays at 6 PM.

I've ... probably been to 25 different yoga studios. This is one of the most welcoming, calming spaces with very talented instructors. |
I love this yoga studio. It's a great balance of a good workout and relaxation and feels like a real community. |
An ideal studio for someone new to yoga. |
