Nirodhaḥ Yoga Blog
What is your approach to teaching? Since I started teaching, my perspective of yoga changed. I began seeing yoga as a liberating path of unconditional compassion for ourselves and others. I pride myself in guiding creative transitions, which nurture a more thoughtful and articulate dynamic within. It brings me joy to encourage each yogi to practice according to their body, mind, and soul connection aligned with each present moment. Given it is normal that our practice will feel and be different day to day, even hour to hour, this idea opens individuals up to staying centered and inquisitive. Due to the universal law of nature, everything is temporary and we are in constant change. To adapt this into our daily learning, it is vital to take the time and meet ourselves exactly where we're at; bringing awareness into play instead of judgement. Why do you choose to teach at 5KY? The moment I walked into Five Keys Yoga's sacred space, I felt remarkably calm and knew I wanted to facilitate classes there. The deep-rooted peace within our studio was so righteous to me, that's all it took. Erin's attention to detail in maintaining a near angelic lightness amidst the city of Chicago is absolutely divine and I am both honored and inspired to be able to do my part in taking care of a transformative practice space. What makes your soul sing? Connecting (and belly laughing) in person with loved ones, disconnecting from my phone/social media/modern virtual consumption, and submerging fully into mother nature. A great deal of my creative expression is also influenced by live music, and being able to share in the groove and honor raw talent with friends and strangers alike. I am a big personal advocate for the idea that there is no wrong way to dance!!

I've ... probably been to 25 different yoga studios. This is one of the most welcoming, calming spaces with very talented instructors. |
I love this yoga studio. It's a great balance of a good workout and relaxation and feels like a real community. |
An ideal studio for someone new to yoga. |
