August Teacher of the Month: Marjorie Gast

Marjorie Gast

1. What brought you to yoga?
   My harp teacher in high school recommended I try some gentle yoga classes online to help combat back pain I experienced after many hours practicing behind my large instrument.
   
2. What is your approach to teaching?
   My approach to teaching is always lovingly choice-based. I believe each person that arrives on their mat should have full control over what and how they choose to move within their practice – you know your body better than anyone. If you are taking one of my classes, expect options, inclusivity, creativity and an invitation to feel exactly what you need to feel.
3. Why did you choose to teach at 5KY?
   Five Keys drew me in with their mission statement to “provide students of all ages and abilities” to build awareness and resilience on their mat. As a teacher, I greatly align and lead with this intent; providing a safe and sacred space for folks to gain greater awareness and peace within their being.
   
4. What makes your soul sing?
   Currently, what makes my soul sing is all of the little things. A warm cup of tea with lemon, putting a beautiful song on repeat, or spending time taking a walk with a person I care about. The past couple years have been difficult for many and I certainly have emerged feeling deep gratitude for the small things in life as that is where I find my joy.
